Charlotte the Kraken by AmberTDD Charlotte the Kraken by AmberTDD
A bunch more photos over here on Tumblr: [link]

:icontwoshadesrou: might be the only one who knows the origins of the name here, but I've affectionately dubbed the kraken, Charlotte, after some 9th grade POTC-related shenanigans from 6 years ago :)

Iíve wanted to make a kraken/giant squid plush for ages but could never find a pattern I liked online nor the motivation to sew 8 arms plus suction cups. Last week I had the sudden realization that dot minky would be perfect for tentacled arms and decided to finally make it. Sketched out some concept drawings, drawing from POTC screenshots and official kraken toys (all 3 of them) and worked out a somewhat similar shape.

She is 100% hand sewn and took about 5 days while juggling housework and classes :D She measures in at 4.5 feet (137cm) and has wires in all 8 arms for posability :D Sheís pretty heavy though so the arms arenít as posable as they could be.

Iím super happy with the results, the only thing I donít like is that in the process of working the stuffing into the arms, it flattened most of the dots so they donít show up nearly as well as they did originally.

Hi there! I was cosplaying as the Slenderman from Akicon, and a friend got a picture of myself and Ms. Charlotte. Just thought I'd let you know ~

That mouth must have been a pain to sew.

It wasn't too bad to sew :) I did all the big teeth individually, then stuck them in the seam as I was sewing the pink circle inside the green doughnut shape. It just took a while :')
